Day 2 – Extra Magic Hours

We’re on the go (I’m uploading this from my phone!) but thought I’d post a few pictures from last night. We had dinner at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian resort, which is fancy and beautiful. Sort Great Gatsby-ish with white marble and a piano band in the lobby. It’s the kind of place where you want to sip a glass of Dom Perignon champagne or a gin and tonic, both of which we had. When you step into the 1900 Park Fare restaurant, however, you may as well be at a Holiday Inn. It was another character dinner and buffet, this time with Cinderella’s evil stepmother and stepsisters, plus Prince Charming.

Later, at the Magic Kingdom, Magnus fell asleep just before the fireworks. They do this cool thing before the fireworks where they project colors and scenes and special effects on the castle, all set to music and excerpts from Disney movies. It was so mesmerizing, I forgot to take pictures. Tinkerbell also flies from the top of the castle, down across the park. Pretty cool.

We rode Peter Pan, which normally has a huge wait. You fly in a ship over London. Super cute. Mag slept through the whole thing. We got back to our room after midnight.

We’re a split jury on Extra Magic Hours. I don’t need to be at the park until 1 am. Yes, it gives you a break from the heat and the lines, but everyone is so tired and miserable, it wasn’t worth it to me.

  1. Is that Fred Armisen from SNL? Not so sure that’s what I consider a Prince Charming…I might be more for Aladdin:)

  2. We’re not split on the extra magical hours. I actually think it gets MORE crowded. Everyone from all of the resorts all head to the same park for the extra hours whereas if you’re hanging around at closing time on a normal night, it thins out and you can hop on every ride.
